Merlyn’s just restocked their DC portion of their back issued comics and boy did they add some gems. I have been meaning to either order the DC One Million comics or graphic novel from Amazon or MyComicShop.com, but Merlyn’s ended up placing the entire series marked half price in their newly stocked back issue boxes. So, naturally I picked them up immediately! Here is a piece of art penciled by Val Semeiks showcasing the Justice League of the 853rd Century:
Thus far I’ve read the first issue as well as the Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter one-shots. Martian Manhunter and Superman are a pair of my favorite characters and I’ve been on a Kyle Rayner kick lately, so naturally I read those first. If you have any inklings to learn about the Manhunter from Mars check out Martian Manhunter’s one-shot. Epic is too light of a word to describe this one-shot, and if you read Kyle Rayner’s Green Lantern one-shot first it segues directly into the Martian Manhunter one-shot. Here is a page from the J’onn Jozz’s one-shot in which he is conversing with the ‘last Green Lantern,’ Kyle Rayner:
Superman is a main focus of the DC One Million miniseries and his tale is truly stunning. Even the Superman of our era is surprised by the revelation that he has lived into the 853rd Century and is the father of the Superman Dynasty. Ultimately the event that spurs the entirety of the arc is Superman’s future self, Superman-Prime, returning to Earth from his fortress of solitude that now resides within the sun. How epic is that!? Here is the panel with the modern day Superman shocked at the knowledge that he is practically immortal after the JLA of the 853rd century informs them of their causality for traveling to the past:
DC One-Million is definitely an awesome DC miniseries from the late nineties, and I know I’ll be reading it over and over. If you see a killer price on some of the DC One Million comics make sure and pick them up; you won’t be disappointed!
